James McNamara

Signature Real Estate Group

Experience: 4 years as a licensed agent.

Specializations: Residential Family Homes

Areas Served: Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

Q: What made you become interested in real estate?

A: I’m a native Las Vegan and have seen tremendous growth since I grew up.  So I have a lot of stories and knowledge of the entire area.

Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted?

A:   A guy showed up as I was shutting down an open house for a home that was listed at $234K and he had $70K cash with him and wanted to buy the house all in. I explained the house was more expensive than $70K. He felt since it was cash we should lower the price.

Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far?

A: All of them are inspiring. I love to talk with people about their dreams!  I feel that it makes a difference in their lives and the more I can assist with my finance and real estate knowledge the better the client is able to produce their dreams and make them come true. No transaction is ever the same so each are challenging in their own right.

Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license?

A:  My only regret is not achieving my real estate license earlier. I worked in the corporate world for many years as a CFO and find real estate much more rewarding.

Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started?

A:  It’s typical for agents to say all the paperwork that is involved with the transactions. I find this to be true but for me I believe the general public is much more informed and knowledgeable about real estate.  Clients want details and want someone that can't teach and walk them through the real estate process. This is where an experienced agent is critical. You must continue to learn all aspects of real estate but not be afraid to reach out to other professionals if you lack experience in a certain area.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?

A: I am a perfectionist and demand that everything in the transaction goes perfect. I spend a lot of time going through the details to ensure accuracy. For example, if a client was locked in at an interest rate of 4.125% bit it gets transposed to 4.25%, this will cost the client tens of thousands of dollars.  All points of the transaction must be reviewed to ensure 100% accuracy. It all matters!

Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say?

A:  Simply perfect!
