Q: What made you become interested in real estate?

A: My husband Mark and I both have backgrounds that gave us an interest in Real Estate - Mark due to his construction background, and me from living in rural area and working with banks and investors on foreclosure and short sale properties. Real estate is a natural fit for us!

Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted?

A: We had an open house where everyone who came in the first two hours identified themselves as a neighbor and told us that they just wanted to see the inside of their neighbor's home! This probably happens all the time, but it was surprising that they all just wanted to snoop! (And admitted it!!) lol

Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far?

A: By far it is when we were able to help a disabled veteran and his wife find a home, help them through the process and then see them move into their own home. They were so excited and we were so happy for them!

Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license?

A: I wish someone would've given us a little more encouragement that hard work and persistence were the keys in this industry. In the beginning, it is so hard to get established and without someone coaching/mentoring you, and having the personal drive, it is discouraging as you try to get up and running. Our advice to new agents? - STICK WITH IT! You can do it!

Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started?

A: When we first started, mortgages were given out with little or no verification of income or assets, you could finance MORE than the contract price, and now, the loan process is much more realistic.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?

A: In the current market, finding properties that meet our buyers' search criteria. The limited inventory is a challenge!

Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say?

A: Rewarding, challenging, exciting, gratifying and worthwhile.
