Q: What made you interested in Real Estate?

A: Helping families work towards creating generational wealth by controlling their housing future, as well as the freedom the job gives me within my own financial life and career

Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted?

A: I can't recall any "interesting" stories or events that have happened at an Open House. However, my favorite part of Open Houses is meeting buyers who are often at the early stages of the process and may not have a plan of attack yet, getting to know their individual situation, strategizing an individual approach for them, and seeing them meet their goal of buying or selling a home. While it may not be "exciting" or "interesting" it's one of the most fulfilling aspects of my role as a real estate resource.

Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far?

A: There are a lot to choose from, so I will choose one of my most recent. A client of mine referred their parents to me - the parents were looking to move from the Bay Area to the Sacramento area to be close to their son and his family (I had helped the son and his family move to Roseville the year before). This was early in 2021 when things were extremely competitive and the way an offer was written was crucial to getting it accepted. We were going up against multiple offers, and we were not the highest bidder (by $30,000), nor were we able to come in "all-cash". However, we won the house and the listing agent informed me that the reason they chose our offer was that, while our offer was not the highest, the offer I wrote on my client's behalf was the most complete offer, and gave the seller and the listing agent the most confidence with regards to the ability to close. To top it off, the home also appraised for more than the purchase price. Personally, I was extremely proud of myself for representing my client in a manner that got them the home without over-extending their budget, and, simultaneously, getting them the home at a price undervalue (based on the appraisal). Outside of that, it was heartwarming to help my client quickly find a home that helped them meet their goal of being closer to their son and grandchildren.

Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license?

A: I wish I had known the value of networking. I came into real estate after 8 years in retail and didn't understand how important networking and being involved in my community would be to growing and maintaining my business and helping me meet the needs of my clients.

Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started?

A: A LOT! I obtained my license in February of 2006 and real estate has changed tremendously since then. From the approach to financing, the players involved in Real Estate, technology making it easier to meet client needs, and easier on clients with regards to their search and completing paperwork, etc. However, the biggest change has come in the consumer approach and education. With access to so much information via quality websites, podcasts, blogs, etc providing valuable information, the consumer is far more educated than any previous generation. This has transitioned my role to be far more of an advisor as my clients have very specific, pointed questions about a home or the market. The average consumer has done a lot of the research and doesn't need to be "sold" a home, they need someone to advise and recommend them on how best to get that home, and negotiate and navigate inspections and disclosures in relation to evaluating their purchase.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?

A: Battling misinformation and misnomers about the market, the value of an agent, and the role of an agent. With access to so much information via the internet, podcasts, etc there are a lot of misnomers or misguided thoughts out there that are just not accurate. Oftentimes, the situation presented may be accurate for one region, or town, however, does not translate to the local market. This is why it's important to have a local expert who studies the regional market every day on your side. Each county, and even often city, has its own regulations, hurdles, or benefits and each transaction is its own separate micro-market within the larger market. Understanding what set of information directly impacts your goals, and which ones don't is truly important to meeting your goals, and avoiding extra noise is crucial in a competitive market when it comes to meeting your real estate goals. That is why it is imperative to have an experienced LOCAL expert, and not rely on a set of information that is broadly brushed across the entire market - as it may not be relevant to your situation.

Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say?

A: Rewarding! Fulfilling! Exciting! Challenging! Impactful!
