Robert Dombrowsky RE/MAX Property Center

Experience: 33 years Specializations: Residential buyers and sellers Areas Served: Bergen, Essex and Passaic Counties in New Jersey Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: I entered real estate at a young age (22) because I already had some sales experience but wanted something that was more focused on customer service. I pride myself on that aspect of the business. The ability to build client relationships was a huge factor in my desire to become a real estate professional. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: A young client of mine was looking for her first home and we worked really hard together to find the right property for her and her partner. The bidding was competitive but I was able to advise her in a way that allowed us to have our offer accepted. As the transaction progressed we ran into some obstacles that threatened to delay the closing, but I made it a point to ensure that the closing took place on time. At closing, my client began crying despite the fact that she was visibly happy. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that it had been her dream to own her own home before she turned 30 and that it was because of me that she was able to do that. What she did not tell me until that moment was that her birthday was on the upcoming Sunday and we were closing on Friday. Had I not gone above and beyond to ensure that the closing took place on time she would not have achieved her goal. Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: The most obvious change is the proliferation of online information available to the client. This has been nothing but a benefit to both home buyers and home sellers. All businesses need transparency and accountability and the information that is now available provides that. Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: Dealing with the amount of “red tape” inherent in a real estate transaction is incredibly challenging. There are so many moving parts to every transaction and many times clients are left disappointed because they are not able to close on time despite doing everything that is asked of them. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: Put your clients first!
